St Petersburg Russian Tarot Egorov Tarot



The St Petersburg Russian Tarot is the work Shakov Yury, Russian artist known for his thumbnails of lacquer.
Shakov born July 15, 1937 in Baku, Azerbaijan and died on March 10, 1989.

The paintings were made to exact size in tempera. Sometimes Shakov had to use a magnifying glass and the support of a prosthetic arm to stabilize the hand in its preparation. Some fine details required a special brush.

The Russian Tarot of St Petersburg combines traditional tarot themes with images of Russian history and culture, connecting, and spiritual wealth of history, art and Russian culture with the symbolism of Tarot.
This cover is his latest work, published in 1989.
Cynthia Giles, explores these pictures and write a book with his interpretation, which is published in 1996.
